Results Timeline
All the changes in the Timeline were noted during my own thorough evaluation and testing of the exercises, and by people who took part in the monitored three month Client Trial for Faceworks. It's usual for first results to emerge at the top of the face and those further down to appear later on. So if you're anxious to see changes in jowls, for example, just remember it's likely to happen after month two. The exercises will be toning muscles underneath the location of the sagging; but it won't be until the Big Lift occurs on the cheeks, that you'll see the change.
There will be improvements all the way through. Everyone is different physically and your own results might vary slightly to the Timeline. If you're not getting the results you want or expect, check through the 'How To' and Problem sections in Part One, Two or Three. It usually is simple to solve issues and get those results happening.
Ideas
Get yourself a Faceworks buddy. Ask someone who's observant to help check your results against the Timeline. It's a good idea to choose someone who you don't see every day, that way it's easier to compare changes from one time to the next.
Or keep a Results Diary and write down the changes you notice every two weeks. This was what we did as part of the Client Trial and it was a great motivator. By the end of the three month trial people were coming in for their appointment waving their diary in excitement. It was a privilege to share their happiness.
If you follow the 'How to' and use the recommended 5 times a week schedule, these are the results you'll see:
Two Weeks
After two weeks you'll see the first response to the exercises – the complexion starts to bloom; eyes are brighter and more open, skin problems less noticeable. Cheeks look subtly toned, lips are plumper and rosier and double chins less prominent. You’ll look like you’ve had a really good night’s sleep.
One Month
Results at the top of the face after a month: eyebrows are higher with a noticeable arch, which opens more space between brow and the eye. The first lift around the eyes shows as less droop across the top lid, and reduction in wrinkles at the outer corner. The eyes continue to brighten, the lash line appears enhanced, and shadows and puffiness are reduced.
There is a noticeable lift in the cheek muscles as they hug in closer to the cheekbones, and the front of the face is more contoured, with a hint of the shape to come. Lips are plumped with an enhanced upper lip shape and cupids’ bow.
Benefits to the skin have increased: the complexion is smooth, glowing and feels slightly firmer to the touch. The firmness comes from increased resting tone within the facial muscles underneath. Lines and wrinkles are beginning to fill out. Skin problems like dryness and blemishes can be seen to be improving. Overall, there are definite but still subtle changes – your friends will ask you if you’ve been away or had a facial.
Two Months
Frown furrows are almost gone and the brow shape is defined. Hooded eyes and crow’s feet are lifted. The eyes retain their brightness even if you’re feeling tired. Under eye skin is toned and smoother with a reduction in bags and shadows. Hollows under the eyes are filled out, smoothing crepiness and lines. Benefits from increased circulation are really showing around the eyes.
There are noticeable results over the cheeks as muscles lift, giving new contours to the front and sides of the face. The balance of the face is noticeably different: higher and more youthful. The sides of the face look sculpted and slimmer.
Around the mouth, folds and deep lines have reduced and lips are plump and rosy. Jawline and jowls are neater and will continue to lift. Double chins are reduced; the skin under the chin is smoother and tighter. Skin continues to improve, and feels and looks firmer and healthier than before. The overall effect is of noticeable rejuvenation, especially at the top half of the face.
Three Months
Even deep frown furrows are smoothed and the brow arch frames the eyes beautifully. There is progressive improvement in lines and wrinkles around the eyes, skin looks more refined here. The tired look that accompanies ageing is wiped away. The top of the cheek is restored to a natural curve, the tighter structure under the eyes takes care of eye hollows and eye bags. The face has an enhanced '3D' appearance, with sculpted cheek contours that contrast with a slimmer lower cheek area.
The lower face now shows a marked improvement. It can take until now for changes here to show. As ageing occurs the facial muscles relax and drop, creating sagging around the bottom of the cheeks, jawline and mouth. At around three months* there is a Big Lift as cheeks finish lifting to their higher position. This lift automatically takes up the loose skin below, reducing problems like sagging and jowls. It can happen suddenly; over a week or even a few days, so watch out for it! When the Big Lift happens, the balance of the face looks different.
Around the mouth, toned skin contrasts with plump, defined lips. Naso-labial folds, jowls and jawline all improve dramatically as the skin ‘drapes’ properly over firm muscles. Double chins are toned and reduced, and the jawline looks defined. Marionette lines reduce as the skin tightens, and will improve over the next few months - though they can be stubborn to erase completely.
The skin on the front of the neck looks more toned, smoother. The muscles here are flatter than other face muscles so the results may not be as dramatic as elsewhere on the face.
Tip: improve the quality of the skin over marionette lines and the neck with Rosehip Oil (see the 'Gorgeous 50+' article for more information).
With all of the workouts, improved circulation helps to normalize skin problems: dry skin is more nourished and oily skin prone to fewer ’breakouts’. Skin is refined, smooth and firm with an inner healthy glow. One of my Trial subjects completely erased her patches of red, dry skin by 10 weeks, and another trial subject reduced her hormone-related spots by over 60%.
*Sagging can take four to five months to lift for the 50+ age group.
Three Months Plus
If you decide to carry on with a workout 3 or more times a week, the muscles will continue to regenerate. Further changes tend to be most noticeable on the lower half of the face: lower cheeks, mouth area, and the chin and jawline. The Advanced Positions (in the exercise descriptions) alter the way muscles are worked and they can boost your results even more. After two years, results plateau off, and a maintenance program is sufficient to keep your facelift.
The most brilliant side effect that I hadn't considered when I started, was that facial exercise would protect my face from ageing as I got older. It is absolutely true that facial exercise slows ageing down, and it does this by keeping both skin and muscles in optimum condition. When I shot the videos, I was 46. In the little workout thumbnails I was 54. I'm 58 and through menopause now, and I STILL look better - twelve years later - than before I started doing face exercises at 45.
